Update on University Travel

UNI faculty, staff and students,

This email is an update to the travel moratorium that was implemented in March on all domestic, non-essential travel by state employees.

Effective immediately, all university-sponsored, in-state travel is now permitted for faculty, staff and students per our normal approval processes.

Domestic, out-of-state travel must be pre-approved by the institution. Please work with your division head to receive the necessary approval.

International travel is still prohibited at this point, per direction from the Board of Regents. This continued moratorium does not apply to personal travel.

Individuals pursuing international personal travel are strongly encouraged to review the CDC's travel guidance related to COVID-19. Current CDC guidance provides that individuals returning from international travel should stay home and avoid contact with others for 14 days from the time that they return, additional information can be found on the CDC's Returning from International Travel page.

Additionally, we encourage employees to check themselves for symptoms of COVID-19 before starting travel and to notify their supervisor and stay home if they are sick. Employees who become sick while traveling or on temporary assignment should notify their supervisor and promptly call a healthcare provider for advice if needed.

If you have any questions, please visit with your department head who may consult with their appropriate division head.
