Fall 2021 Schedule
We plan to safely return to in-person instruction and campus activities this fall. The first day of the semester is Monday, August 23, 2021 and the last day of finals is Wednesday, December 15, 2021. Spring semester begins Thursday, January 20, 2022 and the last day of finals is Friday, May 13, 2022.
New Student Orientation and Arrival on Campus
New student orientation will be held in-person and online August 15.
In accordance with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) current guidelines, we will be requiring all students arriving from overseas to complete a Covid-19 test within 3-5 days of arrival.
For students who have not been vaccinated by a FDA/WHO-authorized vaccine, it will be mandatory to quarantine for 7 full days after they arrive in the U.S.
For students who have been vaccinated with a FDA/WHO-authorized vaccine, no quarantine will be required unless symptoms develop.
New students wishing to travel early to UNI in order to test and quarantine can now arrive on campus between August 7-9, allowing them the opportunity to attend the International Orientation in person, held on August 15, if testing comes back negative. On-campus housing and meals will be made available.
New students who have already made travel plans or still plan to arrive on the original arrival weekend (Aug. 13-15) and are not vaccinated will be able to join the International Orientation virtually while they fulfill any quarantine requirements.
New students to the university should complete the International Student Arrival Form letting us know of your travel plans.
Current international students arriving back to campus from overseas are recommended to follow the quarantine guidelines outlined above for new incoming students. Current students are able to arrive on campus beginning August 13.
All students are encouraged to get vaccinated before they arrive in the U.S. and, if possible, receive a FDA/WHO-authorized vaccine. However, if this is not possible, there will be the opportunity to receive a vaccination, upon availability, on campus before or during the fall semester.
The following vaccines are considered FDA/WHO approved (as of 5.27.2021)
Others are being developed and may be approved throughout the summer.
If you are unsure if your vaccine meets the FDA/WHO authorization, please email Sarah Behrends, Assistant Director of Nursing at email@example.com.
UNI is offering online courses for students who are unable to arrive in the U.S. for the beginning of classes but do not want to delay their university studies. The program provides students with a wide variety of course options and forms of delivery to accommodate students in all majors and in all time zones.
