Spring 2022 Schedule

Spring semester begins Thursday, January 20, 2022 and the last day of finals is Friday, May 13, 2022.

New Student Orientation and Arrival on Campus

New student orientation will be held in-person and online January 14.

Please note the recent announcement with regards to entry into the U.S. by all foreign national air travelers:

Starting on November 8, foreign national air travelers to the United States will be required to be fully vaccinated and to provide proof of vaccination status prior to boarding an airplane to fly to the United States, with only limited exceptions.

Once arriving on campus, you must get tested for COVID-19 three days after your arrival! Here is a schedule of testing times:

Travel Plans

New students to the university should complete the International Student Arrival Form letting us know of your travel plans.

Current Students

Current international students arriving back to campus from overseas are recommended to follow the quarantine guidelines outlined above for new incoming students. Current students are able to arrive on campus beginning August 13.

Vaccinations

All students are encouraged to get vaccinated before they arrive in the U.S. and, if possible, receive a FDA/WHO-authorized vaccine. However, if this is not possible, there will be the opportunity to receive a vaccination, upon availability, on campus before or during the fall semester.

The following vaccines are considered FDA/WHO approved (as of 5.27.2021)

Moderna
Pfizer
Janssen (Johnson and Johnson)
AstraZeneca

Others are being developed and may be approved throughout the summer.

Online Options

UNI is offering online courses for students who are unable to arrive in the U.S. for the beginning of classes but do not want to delay their university studies. The program provides students with a wide variety of course options and forms of delivery to accommodate students in all majors and in all time zones.

General FAQs

Will I need to wear a face mask while on campus?

Masks are strongly encouraged. This guideline does not apply to the Student Health Center or other healthcare operations or research laboratories where a formal Environmental Health & Safety hazard assessment has determined face coverings to be necessary.

What should I do if I experience symptoms of COVID-19?

Stay home and call the Student Health Clinic at 319-273-2009 to be assessed over the phone. Student Health Clinic Staff will talk you through next steps as needed, including:

testing and contact tracing
notifying your faculty
notifying your on-campus work supervisor
campus resources for your quarantine or self-isolation

If you live on campus, notify your residence hall office by phone as well.

What should I do if I believe I have been exposed to COVID-19?

Stay home and call the Student Health Clinic at 319-273-2009 to be assessed over the phone. Student Health Clinic Staff will talk you through next steps as needed, including:

testing and contact tracing
notifying your faculty
notifying your on-campus work supervisor
campus resources for your quarantine or self-isolation

If you live on campus, notify your residence hall office by phone as well.

Will there be temperature checks or coronavirus testing on campus?

At this point, we are asking all students and employees to self-check each day before coming to campus or leaving their dormitory. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 you should stay home and contact the Student Health Center or other medical provider.

This guidance could change later in the fall, depending on the presence of novel coronavirus in our community.

Will I be able to take part in my planned internship/student teaching/research/study abroad opportunity?

We expect to return to pre-COVID normal activities for internships, teaching, research and study abroad.

Will other events - concerts, athletics, live performances, lecture series - take place this fall?

We plan to safely return to in-person instruction and full campus activities this fall.

What changes are happening in offices around campus to help protect people?

Offices that provide services to the public are being provided transaction barriers, stickers and signs that provide physical distancing directives, and hand sanitizer. Office administrators can request additional supplies through FAMIS.
