Forward Together Update

Dear Panther Community,

We’d like to thank President Mark A. Nook and Northern Iowa Student Government President Samantha Bennett for encouraging all of us to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

And we’re excited to announce that, starting Monday, August 30th, students who have been fully vaccinated are eligible to receive a $25 UNI Bookstore gift card for clothing or other insignia merchandise as a thank you for helping protect themselves and their fellow Panthers.

This offer is available to all students who have been vaccinated, regardless of when. To claim your gift card, simply stop by the Maucker Union information desk between noon and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and show your vaccination card and university ID card.

The Bookstore will guarantee one gift card to each student upon showing documentation that they are fully vaccinated. Be sure to get your vaccine soon - this offer is good through Friday, Oct. 15!

Remember vaccines are free, effective, and readily available, including on campus.

Vaccination clinics

If you’re a Panther student, faculty or staff member who hasn’t yet been vaccinated, the Student Health Clinic (SHC) will be providing the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine this Friday, Aug. 20 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. You can either walk-in or call to schedule an appointment at 319-273-2100.

Starting next week, the SHC will hold Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination clinics every Thursday from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Call to schedule your appointment at 319-273-2100. Face masks are required in the SHC.

The vaccines are offered at no cost to you. You can also find a vaccine provider near you by texting your zip code to 438829.

Face coverings

Please remember, both the Centers for Disease Control and the Black Hawk County Health Department recommend that fully vaccinated individuals wear a mask indoors in public as the county is currently an area of substantial or high transmission.

The CDC’s guidance for unvaccinated individuals has not changed and they continue to recommend that unvaccinated individuals wear a mask in indoor public places and get vaccinated.

Please note that face coverings are encouraged, but not required.

If you have a question, please visit or email it to Thanks for all that you do to keep yourself, your family and the Panther community safe.

Stay Well,

John Vallentine,
Associate Provost for Faculty
