Forward Together Update

Dear Panther Community,

We wanted to update you on Black Hawk County's vaccination efforts. The county health department, which oversees vaccination distribution, is currently vaccinating people 65 and older. So far about a third of this age group have received at least one dose, according to the county.

In Iowa, people in this age group are being contacted directly by their health care provider to schedule an appointment. A limited number of appointments are also available through Walgreens and CVS. Vaccine availability in Iowa will continue to expand through the Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 Vaccines. Individuals eligible for a vaccine and not affiliated with a healthcare provider, can contact the Black Hawk County Public Health Department at (319) 292-2360.

More information is available on the county's website. You can also sign up for COVID-19 updates from the county. We will continue to update you as the state expands its eligibility guidelines. The Black Hawk County Health Department and its health care partners ask that people please remain patient as they work to vaccinate Black Hawk County.

Please remember that although COVID-19 cases continue to drop in the Cedar Valley, we must remain steadfast in wearing masks, physically distancing, reporting our symptoms via the PantherHealth survey and getting tested as needed.

If you have a question, please visit forwardtogether.uni.edu or email it to forwardtogether@uni.edu. Thanks for all that you do to keep yourself, your family and the Panther community safe.

Stay Well,

John Vallentine,
Associate Provost for Faculty
